Trace Element Geochemistry of Alluvial TiO2 Polymorphs as a Proxy for Sn and W Deposits

چکیده

The Segura mining field, the easternmost segment of Góis–Panasqueira–Segura tin–tungsten metallogenic belt (north–central Portugal), includes Sn-W quartz veins and Li-Sn aplite-pegmatites, which are believed to be genetically related Variscan Granites. Sediment geochemistry indicates granite-related Ti-enrichments, locally disturbed by mineralization, suggesting magmatic metamorphic/metasomatic titaniferous phases. Therefore, alluvial samples their TiO2 polymorphs (rutile, anatase, brookite) were investigated, potential as exploration tools for Sn W deposits was evaluated. heavy-mineral assemblages proved good proxies bedrock geology, polymorph abundances found suitable indicators and/or metasomatic hydrothermal processes. trace element Segura’s rutile, brookite is highly variable, implying multiple sources a diversity mineral-forming main compositional differences between intrinsic (structural) factors, P-T-X extrinsic parameters forming environments. Anomalous enrichments, up 9% Nb, 6% W, 3% Fe, 2% Ta, 1% V in 1.8% 1.7% 1.2% 1.1% 0.5% registered. Brookite usually has low content (<0.5%), except Fe (~1%). HFSE-rich granitophile-rich rutile most likely magmatic, extremely differentiated melts, with contents enabling discrimination Sn-dominant W-dominant systems. Trace geochemical distribution maps show pronounced negative (rutile+anatase) (rutile) anomalies linked cassiterite precipitation, opposed alteration halos cassiterite-free mineralized areas, where primary shows enrichments similar rutile. This contribution recognizes that can robust, cost- time-effective, tool Sn(W) W(Sn) ore deposit

Uncertainty in fundamental natural frequency estimation for alluvial deposits

Seismic waves are filtered as they pass through soil layers, from bedrock to surface. Frequencies and amplitudes of the response wave are affected due to this filtration effect and this will result in different ground motion characteristics. Therefore, it is important to consider the impact of the soil properties on the evaluation of earthquake ground motions for the design of structures. Soil ...
